What is Aubrey?
Aubrey started off as an Art Nouveau font inspired by the work of Aubrey Beardsley. It quickly became something of its own, though it kept his name.
The font has curves and swirls like the label of a love potion or posion. Aubrey lures the unsuspecting victim into taking a sip of the contents because of its sweet nature. It’s suitabe for use on everything from invitations to fancy balls held by lonely princes to hipster prints with inspirational quotes.
Anatomy of Aubrey
Aubrey is made of curves and spirals and has no straight lines. Many of the letters dip under the baseline to cup the letters next to it creating fantastic letter pairings. The lowercase has a tall x-height to give it breathing room from its curling body. The uppercase features a foot on the letters that have standing stems. There are also many alternate letters that switch out for a better flow in the type.
Origins and Inspirations
As mentioned before Aubrey started off as an Art Nouveau inspired font. The iconic whip lash curves of the Art Nouveau are shown throughout the font. Aubrey had many iterations before settling down on its current form.
