What is WNM Survey?

The WNM Survey was created to ask six simple questions to Web Design + New Media students from Academy of Art. The survey uses Processing and a Kinect to create an interactive survey. The Kinect is a depth sensing camera for the Xbox that was repurposed for this survey. The surveyors walk left for yes and right for no to answer the questions. The current answers are compared to previous answers at the end of the survey. The current answers are saved in a database to be compared to the next survey taker.

User Testing

When the survey had all basic functions coded it was tested to see what user experience problems could be improved upon. From these tests it was discovered that the time bar across the top wasn't very clear that it was timing the questions. Another problem was that there wasn't enough feedback when standing in front of their answers. This feedback led to having individual timers over each answer that first highlighted the answer then shrank to act as a timer and feeback, killing two birds with one stone.

Results

To start the database answers were taken from testers to prepopulate the table for later developement and tests. The table houses answers from 10 surveyors.
